UK’s best DIY restaurant-at-home meal kits revealed
With Covid-19 lockdown measures set to ease in the coming months most of us cannot wait to get out an enjoy a meal in our favourite restaurants.
However, with measures still in place until at least April 12 in England, with outdoor dining available from that date onwards, we all have to wait just a little bit longer.
But fear not, as hundreds of restaurants across the UK have stepped into the breach to provide DIY restaurant meals kits at home, to give that perfect restaurant vibe from within your own kitchen.
Baking has become hugely popular in the UK during lockdown – remember the banana bread? – but with some of us of itching for a delicious meal made by a professional, DIY kits are a perfect treat.
Whether you are in the mood for a traditional Italian dish, some slow cooked indulgence or an Asian inspired meal, we have picked some of the best options to go for!!
Birtelli’s artisan pizzeria is based in Leamington Spa, however, they offer next day nationwide delivery on their brilliant DIY pizza kits.
Perfect for getting the kids involved in the kitchen, these kits get you all the way from dough ball to delicious dinner.
The kit contains a choice of dough bases (with created base, gluten free and doughball variations available) all with a cooking time of under 10 minutes, with cooking instructions included.
There is a huge selection of toppings available to pick from ranging from a simple Margherita to Spicy Dorset Nduja and Garlic and Fennel Salami.

HAWKSMOOR AT HOME
Steakhouse Hawksmoor have joined the DIY meal kit craze in recent months, with an elaborate meat offering for all you hungry carnivores.
The Hawksmoor at Home Steak Boxes have every angle covered from a wide range of steak cuts to fantastic sides, whether you like beef cooked rare or well done!
Prices range from £85 for ‘The Steak Box’ which includes four different cuts of steak, right up to £150 for the ‘Porterhouse Box’, which includes Old Spot Belly Ribs, a huge Porterhouse steak, Matt Brown’s Ultimate Oven Chips, peppercorn sauce, creamed spinach, two IPA cans, two Cherry Negroni’s, a specially selected bottle of red wine and Sticky Toffee Pudding with clotted cream for dessert.
There is also limited availability for specially prepared Sunday Roast kits, priced between £50 and £120, alongside Mother’s Day specials.

HICKORY’S AT HOME
BBQ specialists Hickory’s have also joined the DIY meal kit revolution with their boxes of smoked meats and traditional all-American sides.
A reduced menu is available for home delivery, but the main offering from Hickory’s is their £55 family platter.
This includes 12 smoked chicken wings, Texas style brisket, BBQ pulled pork, Corn on the Cob, Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Memphis Ribs, BBQ beans and House Slaw.

ROSA’S THAI CAFÉ
If big hunks of meat are not your thing and you fancy something inspired by Eastern cooking, Rosa’s Thai Café is a perfect option.
Based around traditional Thai recipes, their meal kits including a host of ingredients made in Thailand and shipped to the UK, to keep that authentic vibe in your cooking.
The two main options are Pad Thai Kits and Green Curry Kits (both to feed four people), they include homemade Thai pastes, fresh noodles, veggies and herbs – all you need to add in are some fresh eggs.
