A woman has shared incredible photos of a DIY bathroom renovation she completed for just $1000 – after contractors quoted her $11,000 to take on the job.
Kellie, from Melbourne, shared ‘before and after’ shots after completely redoing her bathroom’s floors, walls, ceiling, and fixtures.
‘I wanted to share photos of my newly renovated bathroom,’ she wrote on a Facebook group dedicated to home décor. ‘We were quoted $8-11k to have it done professionally so we did it ourselves. It was a big job but the product alone was just over $1000!’

Kellie worked on the renovation with her fiancé over the course of a week.
They replaced the sink, cabinet, and mirror with more modern versions of the appliances.
The couple admitted to feeling like they had ‘a lot more space’ after their renovation ‘opened up’ the bathroom.
‘We’re happy with how it turned out!’ Kellie said.
They also replaced all of the dull silver chrome fixtures with sleek, matte black fittings and added a wall nook instead of a ledge for their shower gel and hair products.

Microcement is a waterproof and grout-free polymer-based coating that can provide rooms with a modern ‘industrial’ concrete aesthetic.
She claimed that the microcement was ‘one of the best decisions’ because she no longer had to scrub at the wall grout.
‘We chose to go with a microcement finish on the walls instead of tiles, and I’m so stoked with it. Not cleaning grout (except for the floor tiles) has been life changing and I definitely recommend!’
She simply wipes her walls down with a microfiber cloth to clean them.
