When we say that the most painful thing about winters is chapped lips, we know you are nodding your head in agreement. Hydration is important, but no amount of water can prevent chapped lips during this season.
To deal with dry and rough lips, you definitely need a good lip balm. While you can purchase one from the market, why don’t you try making one at home instead?
Here are three recipes of lip balms that you can make at home with just about a few ingredients. Read on.
Rose lip balm
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon shea butter, 1 tablespoon beeswax, 2 tablespoon coconut oil, 2-3 drops rose essential oil
Method:
In a double boiler, which you can make by placing a glass container over a pan of water, add shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil. Mix and melt the ingredients. Once done, pour the mixture into a container of your choice. Then, add a few drops of rose essential oil to the mix, and let it cool. Additionally, you can also crumble a few dried rose petals and add to the mix.
Strawberry lip balm
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil, 1/2 tablespoon beeswax, 1/2 teaspoon red lipstick, 6-7 drops strawberry essential oil
Method:
In a double boiler, add all the ingredients apart from the essential oil. Don’t forget to add lipstick for that strawberry colour.
Once all the ingredients melt and mix together, pour the mix into a container of your choice and then add the essential oil. The lip balm is ready for use after it cools down.
Peppermint and lavender lip balm
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon beeswax, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon shea butter, 5-6 drops mint essential oil, 5-6 drops lavender essential oil
Method:
Add beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter in a double boiler and wait for the ingredients to melt and mix. Turn off the heat, add the essential oils, and mix well. Transfer the mixture to a container of your choice and let it cool.
