THERE’S nothing worse than walking through your front door only to be hit with the stale smell of last night’s dinner.

But rather than fork out on pricey diffusers and air fresheners, a cleaning whizz has shared a super simple and cheap way to make your own.

The woman named Elnaz Hamai took to TikTok (@elnazhamai) and explained how her easy and free-of-chemical DIY air freshener is a great way to neutralise odours.

In the clip, she begins by explaining that you’ll need two cups of baking soda and 3/4 cup of water.

“Mix well and make sure to use a thick baking paper,” she says.

“Bake in the oven at 350 Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes.”

Once the time is up, she says it then needs time to cool down.

“Add a blend of your favourite essential oils,” she continues.

“Keep the rest in an airtight container.

“You can add more essential oils to refreshen the discs.”

The cleaning whizz goes on to say that the DIY air fresheners can be used around your home – adding that one disc lasts about three months.

It wasn’t long before the post went viral, racking up over 93k views and several comments from social media users, with many eager to give the DIY air freshener a go for themselves.

“Thank you for sharing this recipe with us. It’s a great idea!” praised one.

A second enthused: “Thank you, definitely doing this.”

A third noted: “Will try this!”

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “Thanks – this is the best way!”

However, another warned: “Please just be careful with the essential oils if you have pets! Tons of essential oils are toxic to them!!”
